Sharon Hoffarth, MD, Kansas City
Medical Director, Primaris
Primaris named Dr. Sharon Hoffarth as Medical Director in July 2008. A lifelong St. Louis-area resident, she serves as the company’s clinical leader, ensuring medical accuracy, guiding clinical case review activities, and advising hospital and physician office-based quality improvement projects.
Dr. Hoffarth is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, clinical professor at St. Louis University School of Medicine, a founding board member of the St. Louis Diabetes Coalition, and steering committee member of the Missouri Council on Activity and Nutrition.
Prior to joining Primaris, she served as Medical Director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. During her tenure, Dr. Hoffarth led clinical quality improvement projects across Missouri. She designed and implemented community healthcare collaborative initiatives, maintained health promotion and disease management programs and was instrumental in the development and implementation of transparency and client reporting tools in Anthem’s Central Region.
She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Missouri and trained in family medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Denver. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from St. Louis University where she completed her residency. She is Board Certified in Preventive Medicine/Public Health.
