Dr. Sharon Hoffarth becomes Primaris medical director
COLUMBIA, Mo.— Today Primaris, Missouri’ Medicare Quality Improvement Organization, has announced Sharon Hoffarth, MD, as the nonprofit’s medical director.
A lifelong St. Louis-area resident, Dr. Hoffarth serves as the company’s clinical leader, ensuring medical accuracy, guiding clinical case review activities, and advising hospital- and physician office-based quality improvement projects.
“I have always taken pride in my work to improve the quality of care patients receive. This position gives me an opportunity to take that further, helping Primaris enhance Missouri’s health care systems.” Hoffarth said.
Dr. Hoffarth is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine, clinical professor at St. Louis University School of Medicine, founding board member of the St. Louis Diabetes Coalition, Steering Committee member of the Missouri Council on Activity and Nutrition, and a member of the Healthy and Active Communities Proposal Review Panel for the Missouri Foundation for Health.
Before joining Primaris, she served as Medical Director for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. While there, Dr. Hoffarth was a leader for clinical quality improvement projects across Missouri. She designed and implemented community healthcare collaborative initiatives, maintained health promotion and disease management programs and led Anthem’s Central Region to develop and implement transparency and client reporting tools.
Dr. Hoffarth holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Missouri and a Master of Public Health degree from St. Louis University.
