COLUMBIA, Mo.—The Missouri Alliance for Home Care (MAHC) has announced that Helen “Sandy” Morgan, of Lee’s Summit, has been chosen as the recipient of the Susan Jenkins Award for career achievements working to advance home care in Missouri.

Sandy Morgan“We are extremely proud of Sandy’s accomplishments. Her work to constantly perfect home care will have a lasting impact, making it possible for many Missourians to live longer, more active lives within the comfort of their homes,” said Richard A. Royer, CEO of Primaris, a Columbia, Mo.-based nonprofit which serves as Missouri’s Medicare Quality Improvement Organization.

Morgan is currently the Western Regional Home Health Manager for Primaris, where she assists home health agencies with improving the quality of care provided to Missouri Medicare beneficiaries.

“Sandy’s dedicated service to the industry and to MAHC has helped shape the face of home care in Missouri over the past two decades. Her leadership and commitment to quality home care has helped inspire MAHC and the industry to strive for excellence,” said Mary Schantz, executive director of MAHC.

The Susan Jenkins Award was established over twenty years ago in honor of Susan Jenkins, a pioneer in the home care industry who left a legacy improving the position of home health. The award is given annually, with winners selected by the Board of Directors of the Missouri Alliance for Home Care.

The Missouri Alliance for Home Care (MAHC) is the statewide association representing providers of home care and hospice. It is based in Jefferson City, Mo.

Morgan has worked in Missouri’s home care industry for over 40 years, beginning as a public health nurse with Audrain City/County Health Department. She worked her way to the director of home care position at John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Mo. Through her service on regional and state boards and committees she has been a steady advocate for the provision of services to people in their homes.

Morgan has served on the Board of Directors of MAHC, ending her service with two terms as president of the board. She also served for many years on the Home Health Advisory Council of the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), serving with others as the voice of home health providers to the Bureau and assuring a level of transparency in the Medicare Home Health system for Missouri.

The award will be presented to Morgan at the Missouri Alliance for Home Care’s annual award banquet on April 28 at the Lake of the Ozarks.
