URAC Accreditation

URAC Health Utilization Management Accreditation
Primaris has been awarded Health Utilization Management accreditation by URAC. This is the oldest and most recognized UM
accreditation in the country. The Health Utilization Management standards encourage greater consistency in the policies and
procedures used by managed care organizations when making medical necessity determinations. They also ensure that appropriately
trained clinical personnel supervise the utilization review process, and require that a reasonable and timely appeals process be
followed when an initial decision to deny healthcare is made. The Health Utilization Management Standards apply to the full range
of managed care organizations, from HMOs to stand-alone utilization review organizations.
